Beaches

While not being directly on the coast, the Baton Rouge area has several sandy beach options within a short drive from the city. Many of these beaches are family-friendly, offering amenities like playgrounds and water parks. White Sands Lake Day Beach features an aqua park with inflatable water slides, blob bag and trampolines, making it a great spot for families.

One Day Itinerary in Baton Rouge

Morning: ExxonMobil Cypress Bayou Lake Trail in Greenwood Community Park

  • Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Location: Greenwood Community Park, Baton Rouge, LA
  • Activities:
    • Start your day with a refreshing hike on the ExxonMobil Cypress Bayou Lake Trail. This trail offers scenic views of the  18-acre lake where visitors can fish, kayak, or canoe, lake and surrounding woods.
    • After your hike, visit the park’s splash pad to cool off, or explore the community playground and tennis courts.

Afternoon: Liberty Lagoon Water Park

  • Time: 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Location: 111 Lobdell Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70806
  • Activities:
    • Head to Liberty Lagoon, one of Baton Rouge’s top-rated water parks.
    • Enjoy thrilling attractions like the Gator Bowl, a 75-foot plunge slide, and the ShockWave Flowrider for boogie boarding.
    • Relax on the lazy river or explore the children’s play area and splash pad.
    • Don’t forget to grab a snack or meal at the park’s dining options.

Tips:

  • Check Liberty Lagoon’s website for admission fees and hours of operation. Full daily admission tickets are $12, with an additional $5 for a ShockWave wristband, which allows access to the ShockWave Flowrider attraction.
  • Plan your visit according to the park’s schedule, as hours may vary by day, and close for inclement weather.
