Indian Echo Caverns, also known as Echo Dell in Pennsylvania, are limestone caverns formed from Beekmantown limestone. The caverns were formed through the dissolution of limestone by acidic groundwater over many years. The ongoing erosion and deposition of minerals within the caves have created a variety of impressive features that attract visitors today.

  • Location: The caverns are located along Swatara Creek at 368 Middletown Rd Hummelstown, PA 17036
  • Temperature: The caves are a constant 52 degrees Fahrenheit all year. A light wrap is recommended to keep from getting chilled.
  • Tours: A tour of Indian Echo caverns lasts about 45 minutes with a trained guide with in depth knowledge of the caves history, geology, and formations. 
  • Hours: The caverns are open daily from 9 AM–4 PM and only close on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
